John Whitehead, Ph.D.

John Whitehead received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Kentucky in 1990. His specialties include economic valuation of natural resources with an emphasis on conservation issues. John is currently a full professor in the Department of Economics at Appalachian State University and has been an associate of Southwick Associates for the past several years. His previous work at Southwick Associates includes evaluating wetlands, lost fishing opportunities related to water intake structures (EPA Clean Water Act 316(b)) and fish kill events, and the economic value held by the Florida public for manatees
