State fish and wildlife agencies rely on volunteers to field many of their conservation, fishing, hunting, and shooting sports programs and events. However, recruiting and retaining volunteers can be challenging, as many people juggle busy schedules with other commitments, making it harder for states to successfully implement conservation and R3 programs. This project provides insights into what people look for in a volunteer opportunity, the roadblocks they face, and strategies for recruiting and retaining volunteers more effectively.
