Hunt Florida’s Management Areas

Florida’s quota hunt program on state-managed areas is an important public hunting opportunity. A majority of the more than 140 management areas with hunting have quota hunts, which means the hunter numbers are limited during at least some part of the hunting season. Very recently, Florida redesigned its quota hunt program to provide increased access to these limited-entry hunts to more people. Also, Florida has implemented an apprentice (mentor) license through the Family Afield initiative. This report details work to identify Florida hunters who have not participated in quota hunts, determine why hunters do not apply or stopped applying, influence them to participate in quota hunts via communication efforts, encourage successful applicants to use the new guest permit, and assess those marketing efforts.
