The project recognized there is little agreement on how R3 success is measured, and whether specific R3 efforts are contributing to participation and/or degrading the experience for existing users. The mission was to understand R3 crowding challenges and advance recommendations and strategies to R3 practitioners to help minimize the issue.
Supported by a panel of R3 and wildlife management experts, the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation has been examining this issue. Output of this ongoing initiative are available here. In order of their production, these are:
- A literature review that examined available insights on crowding-related concerns.
- An exploratory survey of hunters to learn more about their concerns and perceptions
- A multi-variate assessment of the factors affecting participation
- The final ‘crowding’ report covering the in-depth hunter survey
- A webinar summarizing the results and initial recommendations.
