Economic Impacts and Contributions of Sportfishing in Alaska

This report summarizes an effort by the Division of Sport Fish to provide estimates of angler spending in Alaska and the contribution it makes to Alaska’s economy. The results are based on an extensive statewide study of resident and nonresident anglers who went sportfishing in Alaska during 2007. The report contains estimates of the total expenditures on sportfishing by anglers and estimates of the subsequent economic effects this spending had in terms of employment, wages, salaries, and tax receipts.
